EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING WITH JAMES LADD
Experiential Learning is another way to describe the structured coaching process. Whether it is working to support and/or guide individuals in the community or in the workplace its ultimate goal is to heighten awareness and understanding of self coupled with actioning that awareness to assist individuals in reaching their full potential.
Coaching is delivered in one or a combination of two ways; direct one-on-one coaching, or one-on-one coaching in conjunction with Team Building. Whether it be individuals seeking clarity and direction in their lives or executives, managers, supervisors and/or workplace teams striving for a greater congruence in their professional lives coaching can make the difference.
I have noticed an increasing trend of individuals offering basic life coaching services. For those who are searching for a professional coach, I would like to offer some key suggestions to ensure you pick the right one for YOUR goals.
It is critically important that your coach comes with a considerable amount of life and work experience, not just adequate qualifications.
Coaching methods should include a direct approach to make actual changes in your life. Whether personally or professionally those changes should be congruent with who you are within the four dimensions of your life (intellectual, emotional, physical & spiritual).
Make absolutely sure that you feel that the coach you select has the ability to truly heighten or create in you, a new level of self awareness.
With this awareness, your coach should be able to guide you strategically towards your goals, bringing your personal and professional life closer into alignment.
In working with clients I employ a confidential strategic copyrighted © seven step process intended to first heighten or create self-awareness and then to use that awareness to formulate a strategic plan (mission, goals & action steps) that will bring you into a congruence with the essence of who you are both personally and professionally.
Understand that coaching is not for the faint of heart, it is hard but rewarding work that to be effective takes time and patience and a willingness to stay the course, as well as be disciplined (take responsible for your life, tell yourself the truth). If you are prepared to do that than I am prepared to travel that road less traveled with you and provide you with direction, guidance and support.

Effective coaching is NOT a 30 to 45 minute telephone conversation, is not a bi-weekly or monthly meeting. Effective coaching is not hearing about the coaches past or present exploits climbing mountains, bicycle racing in the desert, running marathons, hiking through the jungle, and you can do it too...kinds of approaches.
Effective coaching is not rah-rah speeches, or feel good one or two day seminars or jumping up and down shouting from the mountain-tops.
